USD little changed after midterm election, NZD up; RBNZ meeting

The US midterm election came out pretty much as expected overall, although there were some surprises. As was widely expected, the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives, while the Republicans kept control of the Senate. There were some individual contests that surprised, but I won’t go into that in detail. I’m sure those of you who want to read about it in detail can find a lot more information elsewhere, so I won’t belabour the point except to say that from the market’s point of view, what’s striking is how little impact it had on currencies.
