US House Passes a Short-term Spending Bill, Torch Passed to Senate; Germany’s SPD votes on Coalition

Today is the deadline for the US Congress to find a solution in order to avoid a government shutdown. The House has already approved a short-term spending bill, but the Senate must support it as well. Over the weekend, Germany’s SPD party votes on the preliminary coalition agreement.
Will the US Government Avoid a Shutdown?
The US dollar traded lower against all its G10 peers yesterday on fears of that a government shutdown may be around the corner. The currencies that outperformed the dollar the most were CHF, GBP and AUD, in that order.
