U.S.’s unemployment benefit claims minimized

U.S.’s unemployment benefit claims dropped more than what the economists and the analysts predicted, amid the nation's economy regaining momentum while remaining healthy after the first quarter's downside mode.

U.S.'s initial claims drop 10,000

As per the Labor Department, today, the initial claims dropped to 268,000, declining 10,000 for the week that ended May 21.

According to the economists' and the analysts' predictions, the initial claims were expected to decelerate to 275,000, still being lower than 300,000 that is the standard threshold.

Pending home sales in the U.S. on the upside

U.S.'s pending home sales appreciated more than the initial estimations, boosting optimism for a healthy industrial and housing sector.

Based on the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the pending home sales index climbed, beating the estimations for a 0.6% rise, by 5.1%.

March's pending home sales, while previously having reported a 1.4% gain, climbed 1.6%.
