U.S. dollar gains amid Williams' comments

Weekly synopsis

U.S. dollar gained against its main counterparts, last Friday, amid the comments of John Williams, San Francisco's Federal Reserve Bank President, on the rate hike.

U.S.'s rate hike having a 12% chance to occur in September

As per various surveys and polls, the investors are giving a chance of 12% for a September rate hike, compared to December's odds that were approximately 46%.

The U.S. dollar index closed the week at 94.48, on Friday. The dollar traded versus the yen at 100.21, rising 0.3%. The euro against the dollar reached the 1.1323 level, dropping 0.25%.

The GBP/USD pair traded at 1.3076 and was 0.7% lower, but resumed 1.2% upper for the week. The British currency, the sterling, reached the 1.3184 zone, following the outcome on inflation, retail sales, and employment that surpassed estimates.
