U.S. dollar gains after U.S. nonfarm payrolls

The U.S. dollar gained versus its main counterparts last Friday, following the release of the U.S. nonfarm payrolls having shown weaker momentum in hiring for the month of December, despite the rise in wage growth over a period of seven years. The U.S. dollar index traded to 102.17, rising 0.77%.

U.S. economy introduces 156,000 jobs

The U.S. economy introduced, for the month of December, 156,000 jobs, amid the rate of unemployment ticking up from November's 4.6% rate to 4.7%, the Labor Department stated.

Furthermore, the USD/JPY traded at 117.02, rising 1.45%, upon the pair ending with 0.2% gains for the week.

The EUR/USD traded at 1.0532, declining 0.67%, and the GBP/USD traded to 1.2283, dropping 1.08%.
