Japan might issue bonds on construction

Japan's Economy Minister said today that the government might issue bonds on construction in supporting and funding a stimulus scheme for boosting the economy.

Nobuteru Ishihara did not mention, though, the amount that will be needed to get along with such a package.

Ishihara stated further that, he was against the financing of the package via issuing deficit-covering bonds.

United Kingdom

The BRC retail sales dropped from 0.5% to -0.5% and matched the analysts’ estimations.

Sweden

Sweden’s consumer price inflation climbed from 0.6% to 1.0%. The economists and the analysts estimated the CPI to appreciate to 1.0%.

Brazil

Brazil's retail sales dropped from -6.9% to -9.0% and did not match the economists' estimations for a rise to -6.2%.
