The ECB should react calmly, following the volatility after Donald Trump's election as the next President in the U.S., Peter Praet, the European Cental Bank's executive board member, stated today.
ECB must act wisely on Trump's victory
Peter Praet told reporters that, should the ECB react without a plan to Trump's victory, this approach could have a negative impact on the euro zone's banking system and monetary policy.
Praet highlighted further that, the volatility should be closely watched for some days, and with patience to foresee the market reaction.
Moreover, the ECB must maintain its monetary support in its attempt to bring inflation back to target.
