Banc De Binary’s Ahead Of The Week Report: 14th- 18th April 2014

We begin with Monday the 14th of April and the first key trading event of the week comes in at 12.30 in the afternoon with U.S Retail Sales data for March. In February, retail sales figures exceeded forecasts for first time in 3 months, and high-street spending is forecast higher again this time around, which could result in potential put opportunities on the eurodollar.

On Tuesday, we move over to Germany for the ZEW Economic Sentiment report at 9am. There has been a noticeable downturn in sentiment data coming out of Germany in recent months, with investor confidence declining for a third straight month in March. An improved outlook for the U.S. economy may have a positive impact on German investor sentiment, but if the index does not meet forecast on Tuesday, we could see the euro lose ground against its U.S. counterpart, leading to another tradable opportunity on the world’s favourite currency pair.

On Wednesday, the main trading event of the day comes at 8:30 am with the release of the U.K Unemployment Rate and claimant count change data for February and March respectively. Bank of England Governor Mark Carney's forward guidance policy is closely tied to the U.K. unemployment rate, and a positive outlook the U.K. economy is fuelling expectations that the Bank of England may raise interest rates sooner rather than later, which should result in opportunities on the Sterling pairs

On Thursday we head over to Canada for Core CPI figures at half past 12 in the afternoon. Recent inflation data has exceeded forecasts, rising 1.1% in the 12 months to February this year. The Canadian dollar's recent rally - backed by a recovery in the U.S. - may continue if we see another increase in consumer prices, leading to basket of opportunities on the Loonie pairs.

No tradable events are listed on Friday due to a public holiday in Europe and North America, so that concludes our round-up of the key trading events for the 14th to the 18th of April 2014.
