This is likely to be a busy week for GBP-traders who are trying to assess whether and when the BoE will raise interest rates this year. We get UK CPIs on Wednesday, retail sales on Thursday, and GDP data on Friday. In the Eurozone, PMIs are likely to attract special attention as investors will be eager to find out whether the economic moderation has continued or not. The minutes from the latest FOMC and ECB meetings are also coming out.
Monday is a relatively quiet day with no major indicators or events scheduled on the economic agenda.
On Tuesday, the calendar is also light with no top tier releases. During the Asian morning, the Bank of Japan core CPI for April is coming out, but no forecast is currently available.
As for the European day, we get the UK CBI Industrial Trend Orders for May. The index is anticipated to have remained unchanged at 4.0.
Later in the day, Canada’s wholesale sales for March are forecast to have rebounded to +0.6% mom from -0.8% in February.
