UK election TV broadcast tonight at 20:00 GMT

The GBPUSD pair has been supported on the latest poll results which shows that the Conservative party are extending their gains. Tonight at 2000GMT Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn will face each other live in a television broadcast. The result of that TV debate is likely to impact the polls and so there is potential for some GBP volatility on the back of the broadcast.

As a reminder, the latest YouGov poll from November 14-15th has the Conservatives with a 45% lead (+4), Labour 28% (unchanged), Lib Dems 15% (unchanged) and the Brexit Party at 4% (unchanged). The Mail on Sunday Poll from November 14-16th has Conservatives at 45%(+3), Labour 30% (+1), Lib Dems 11% (-5%), and the Brexit Party 6% (unchanged). As long as the conservatives remain in the lead, expect the GBP to be bid.
