6 New Indicators Available in the Olymp Trade platform

The effectiveness of a trader’s work depends largely on the tools he uses to analyze the market. Indicators are the most popular mechanisms for determining the future direction of the price movement.

There has been another update of technical indicators on the Olymp Trade trading platform: we added new oscillators, representatives of the trend system family, and simple information assistants.
Weighted Moving Average

It is a version of the best-known trading approach, based on the calculation of the average asset price. But unlike the classic SMA, a WMA places more importance on recent price moves.

If you are studying one-minute candlestick chart, and the time is 15:00, the asset price at 14:59 will be given more weight when calculating the WMA than the price at 14:58. And a SMA puts equal weight on recent and past data.

Gator

The Gator oscillator is a tool developed by Bill Williams, a world famous trader. The indicator has a form of a dual histogram colored in different colors. The Gator is interpreted on the basis that each phase of a trend, like an alligator, has a life cycle of its own indicated by the awakening, eating, stopping, and sleeping of the Gator.

1. "Awakening" is the stage of a trend formation. The histogram of the indicator narrows to the maximum. At this stage, it is logical to form your positions.
2. "Eating" is the stage of continuation or persistence of the trend. The histogram begins to expand. Traders can still follow the trend.
3. " Sated" stage is a warning that the trend may be approaching its end. The columns of the Gator histogram are steadily decreasing. This stage is often accompanied by illogical price movements.
4. "Sleeping" is the final stage of the cycle, which indicates a low level of volatility.

Momentum

A popular oscillator used to analyze the price of any kind of assets. There is one signal line and a limiting level 100 in the indicator window. It separates the "bearish" and "bullish" zones. The simplest way to use this indicator is to open a position at the breakout of the level, as well as to look for divergences.

Rate of change

It is an irreplaceable information indicator, which task is utmost simple: the Rate of change calculates and shows the percent change in the asset price for a specific period of time. It is an excellent tool for traders who study the mathematical patterns of the market.

Detrended-price-oscillator

It is a classic oscillator popular with traders. Its signal line demonstrates the market trend, therefore if it is located below "0" mark it is a bearish signal. And if the line is higher than "0" the market is bullish.

Awesome-oscillator

It is Bill Williams’ another invention. The classic settings of the indicator involve calculating the difference of a 34 period and 5 Period simple moving averages. Thanks to the clear histogram of the indicator, a trader can quickly affirm a new price trend when using the Awesome-oscillator.
