Andreas holds an MBA degree from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business, part of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He also holds a professional qualification in accounting and has done extensive postgraduate work towards a Doctorate in Business Administration degree in Corporate Governance with the Henley Management College in the UK.
Andreas has a long and distinguished career within the financial sector. For the past 35 years he has devoted his career to developing Cyprus’ financial services industry, with a five-year interlude where he served as Cyprus’ Minister of Defense between 1988 and 1993. He began his career as a Junior Accountant with the Cyprus Development Bank in 1966, and left 17 years later as Senior Manager, Investments. In 1983 Andreas became the driving force behind the establishment of Cyprus’ first investment banking institution, CISCO, and served as its General Manager until 1988. His hard work and dedication within the industry led to his appointment as Secretary of the Interim Committee for the establishment of a Stock Exchange in Cyprus. In 1993, he joined ALICO AIG Life and ran their life assurance business, and later ran the newly-formed Laiki Cyprialife. He subsequently managed all the assurance businesses for the Cyprus Popular Bank Group.
More recently, Andreas was Managing Director at Allied Capital Ltd, as well as Executive Vice Chairman and corporate turnaround specialist at Alliance International Reinsurance PLC. From 2003 to 2006 he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation. Finally, from 2005 to 2011 Andreas served initially as a business consultant at IKOS CIF Ltd., where he was appointed as Executive Director in 2007.
