The US Congress approved a spending bill that aims at keeping the government funded until the 8th of February, ending a shutdown triggered on Friday midnight. In Asia, the BoJ remained on hold, while the center of attention was Governor Kuroda’s press conference after the decision.

The dollar traded unchanged or lower against all but one of the other G10 currencies yesterday. The only loser was AUD. The greenback underperformed GBP, NZD, EUR, CAD and SEK, in that order, while it stayed virtually unchanged versus CHF, JPY and NOK.
