U.S. dollar lower to 1-week lows

Weekly synopsis

The U.S. dollar traded lower to one-week lows versus its major counterparts last Friday, upon the increase in doubts whether the Republicans will be pushing the tax overhaul in 2017.

U.S. dollar index at 94.30

The U.S. dollar index approached 94.30 dropping 0.13% ending the week 0.61% weaker.

The EUR/USD reached 1.1667 appreciating 0.21% closing the week with 0.45% gains, the USD/JPY aimed at 113.56 ending the week 0.53% lower, the GBP/USD to 1.3191 climbing 0.35%, and the EUR/GBP to 0.8842 declining 0.16%.

Weekly major events

On Monday, Haruhiko Kuroda, Bank of Japan Governor, will be giving a speech in Zurich, and Patrick Harker, Philadelphia Fed President, in Tokyo.

On Tuesday, the U.K will be producing its inflation data, the euro zone is to release its third-quarter growth figures, Germany its economic sentiment, China its retail sales and fixed asset investment data, and Australia its business confidence data. Janet Yellen and Mario Draghi will be giving speeches in Frankfurt.

On Wednesday, the U.K is to publish its employment data, Japan its third-quarter growth, and the U.S. its retail sales and inflation data. Charles Evans, Chicago Fed President, will be giving a speech in London.

On Thursday, Canada is to publish its foreign securities purchases and manufacturing sales, the euro zone its inflation figures, Australia its latest jobs report, the U.K its retail sales, and the U.S. its industrial production, jobless claims, and manufacturing activity in the Philadelphia region, while Mark Carney will be giving a speech in Liverpool.

On Friday, the U.S. will be releasing its housing starts and building permits, and Canada its inflation data, while Mario Draghi is to speak in Frankfurt.
